Samsung Galaxy A (2019) series may come with high-end features like triple rear cameras and in-display sensor
New entrants in
the smartphone market like Huawei, Vivo and Oppo with new features and
innovations have been posing challenge to the traditional players like Samsung. This demands the established players to imbibe features and yet remain affordable to the customers.
In one such instance of adaptation, the South Korean mobile manufacturer Samsung is reportedly working to bring high-end features like triple cameras and in-display fingerprint reader in its budget smartphones.
According to a report by a Korean local media The Investor, “The firm’s global hardware development team that is responsible for developing lower-range phones except Galaxy S and Note phones has recently started research for upgrading key functions of its Galaxy A series.”
The company is planning to introduce two key features in 2019 Galaxy A series -- ‘super-wide angle’ triple-lens camera and on-screen fingerprint scanning. The former is expected to feature in the next year flagship Samsung Galaxy S10+ as well.
However, the report said that it is rare for Samsung to develop high-end features for both its flagship and budget smartphone at the same time. Hence, there may be some differences in technological specifications.
As per the report, while Galaxy S10 will come with an ultrasonic scanner, Galaxy A (2019) series will feature a less-advanced optical sensor.
The report cites the lukewarm sale of Samsung’s flagship premium smartphones as the reason behind the company’s decision to be renew its budget phone lineup with premium features.
